AstrHori has released a budget FishEye lens for full-frame cameras: AstrHori 6mm F/2.8, which provides a wide 220-degree viewing angle, creating circular images with pronounced distortion. The maximum aperture of F/2.8 on a full frame allows you to not be limited to shooting in ideal lighting conditions. The price of the optics is $299.

The AstrHori 6mm F/2.8 is now available for Sony E, Canon RF, Panasonic L and Nikon Z mounts.

What’s remarkable is that the lens has a minimum focusing distance of just 8 cm ! This allows you to shoot as close as possible to create impressive fish-eye shots.
It is worth noting that the lens is manual, that is, it does not have autofocus functions.

It is designed to help photographers explore their potential and explore a wide range of new creative directions, including dynamic landscapes, all-sky astrophotography, architecture, action scenes, shooting in tight spaces or low light, and creating their own unique shooting style.

The optical design of the lens consists of 10 elements in 8 groups, the number of aperture blades is 8. The optical scheme includes 2 low-dispersion elements and 4 lenses with a high refractive index. The weight of the lens is 340 grams.

The lens supports matrix resolution up to 61 MP. This will allow using new optics with modern cameras. For example, Canon EOS R5 Mark II or Sony A7R V.

The new product comes in a standard kit: a box, the lens itself, a user manual, front and rear lens caps, but the official website also lists a gift in the form of a lens case.

The scope of application for the lens is quite extensive. For example: shooting architecture, night sky, street and portrait photography, capturing natural landscapes, as well as creative and dynamic video shooting.
Below are some sample photos taken with this unusual lens:

The company provides a 12-month warranty on a new lens, for example, in case of a defect in materials or manufacturing, except in cases of improper use (impacts, liquid or sand).
For the price indicated above, the lens can be considered an interesting acquisition for expanding creative potential. Fisheye lenses are often used to convey a dynamic perspective and a sense of immersion in the action (musical events or shooting stunts). So adding this newcomer to your optics park will mean opening up new horizons of creative shooting to realize unique shots.
Competitors have already released similar and attractive solutions, for example, Laowa 8-15mm 2.8 . But it has a narrower field of view and is twice as expensive, although it is worth considering that this is not a fixed lens.
