NiSi Announces 250mm F5.6 Lens and Three Athena Cine Lenses 18, 40 and 135mm

A video teaser from NiSi Optical has appeared on the Chinese social network Weibo , which promises a presentation in the first half of the year of a new manual lens NiSi 250mm F5.6 for almost all existing mounts and three cine lenses NiSi Athena 18mm T2.2 , 40mm T1.9 and 135mm T2.2 .

Technical characteristics of NiSi 250mm F5.6 (from teaser):

  • minimum focusing distance: 2 m
  • focusing: manual
  • Focusing ring travel: 270°
  • filter thread diameter: 67 mm
  • will be released for mounts: Sony E, Canon RF and EF, Nikon Z and F, Fuji G and X

The manufacturer claims that it spent four years reworking the optical design of the Minolta 250/5.6, applying new lens processing technologies and using special coatings, which significantly increased the amount of light passing through the lens, improving resolution and sharpness. NiSi notes the ring-shaped donut bokeh, as well as the “special pattern that gives photographs the dreamy, atmospheric feel of a painting, and provides a perfect integration of technology and art, giving photographers new creative tools.”

The NiSi 250mm F5.6 price at the start of sales will be 2950 yuan (~$408).

In addition, NiSi Optical will present three new cinema lenses:

  • NiSi Athena 18mm T2.2
  • NiSi Athena 40mm T1.9
  • NiSi Athena 135mm T2.2

Most likely, they will be presented at the April NAB’2024 exhibition, in which NiSi Optical will participate.
