OnePlus smartphones traditionally have good specifications and camera capabilities. On the second point, the manufacturer cooperates with Hasselblad, which provides fine-tuning of color, white balance and overall photo quality. The company’s next flagship is the OnePlus 15 (there was and will be no 14th model on the market due to tetraphobia?). The source revealed some details about the future new product.
Well-known insider Digital Chat Station has revealed the first details about the next-generation flagship from OnePlus. Let’s start, as always, with the smartphone’s cameras.
The OnePlus 15 is reported to have three 50 MP sensors in the main unit. This is the main camera with wide-angle optics, an ultra-wide-angle module, and a telephoto lens with 3X optical zoom.
Some media publications claim that the main matrix will have an optical format of 1/1.49 or 1/1.3 inches. And the sensor for telephoto optics will be smaller, expectedly 1/2 inches. The telephoto lens itself will be based on a periscope design, the source specifies.
The smartphone will be powered by a new generation processor: Qualcomm SM8850 . According to current publications, this chip will receive the marketing name Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Some call it the second generation Snapdragon 8 Extreme Edition. This processor has already been spotted in the GeekBench benchmark database, so its specification is already known.
The chip has a dual-core “Prime” configuration with a clock speed of 4.61 GHz and a six-core performance unit with a frequency of 3.63 GHz. The tested sample was supplemented with 16 GB of RAM and runs Android 16. Since we are talking about a prototype processor (which was tested in GeekBench), the obtained figures do not reflect the real performance of the chip.
According to the insider, the OnePlus 15 smartphone will be offered in five memory configurations: 12/256 GB, 12/512 GB, 16/256 GB, 16/512 GB, and 16 GB/1 TB. The OnePlus 15 will not have a 24 GB RAM option.
The device will weigh 215 grams, the screen diagonal is 6.78 inches, the resolution is 1.5K. The battery capacity will be 7000 mAh, the wired charging power is 100 W. The cost and release date have not yet been disclosed.
Interestingly, not a single OnePlus flagship has yet taken a high place in the DxOMark camera capabilities smartphone rankings. For example, the current OnePlus 13 flagship is only in 54th place in the global ranking.
DxOMark considered video recording and color rendering to be the weakest points of the OnePlus 13.
Earlier, the developers of the AnTuTu benchmark published an up-to-date list of the most powerful flagship smartphones as of March 2025. The Vivo X200 Pro smartphone, released in December 2024, was named the most productive.
